Guevara Hughes, MISCP CORU
BSc Physiotherapy
Guevara is a Chartered Physiotherapist registered with the ISCP and CORU, who graduated with a first-class Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from University College Dublin (UCD) with a strong interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, sports injuries and rehabilitation.
Through her clinical placements in private practices and hospitals, she gained experience assessing and managing a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, from acute injuries through to rehabilitation and return to sport. She uses a combination of clinical assessment, evidence-based treatment and individualised exercise rehabilitation to help patients recover and return to the activities that matter to them.
As a GAA player herself, Guevara has a particular understanding of the physical demands of Gaelic sports and the challenges athletes face when returning from injury. She is passionate about helping GAA players and other athletes safely return to training and competition while reducing the risk of re-injury.
Her hospital experience also provided exposure to post-operative and neurological rehabilitation, further developing her communication, patient education and multidisciplinary rehabilitation skills.
Guevara takes a patient-centred approach, working with each individual to understand their goals and develop a rehabilitation plan that is practical, progressive and tailored to their needs.
